East Lombardy lands in the island of taly Loves Food


Italy Loves Food, the innovative food court which offers a selection of Italian excellences from the world of food and drink, located in the Schengen departures terminal at Milan Bergamo Airport, plays host to East Lombardy - 2017 European Region of Gastronomy, which sees the areas of Bergamo, Brescia, Cremona and Mantua united in the promotion of a unique and great destination for tourists.

From April 2017 to March 2018, passengers departing to Italian and international destinations from the Bergamo airport will be able to taste and purchase the best specialities from East Lombardy, with a particular focus on wines and cheeses.
Furthermore, every month there will be an opportunity to taste a signature cuisine dish created by a great chef and re-proposed by the team led by Vittorio Fusari, the chef who is charged with the coordination of the kitchens in WineGate11, an area dedicated to the serving of Franciacorta wine.

Philippe Léveillé, chef at Miramonti l’altro, a two Michelin-starred restaurant, is the first protagonist of the new initiative which will see 8 great chefs from East Lombardy pass the baton over the next few months. Every month, the “East Lombardy” menu will include a dish created by a great chef, as well as a selection of typical cheeses from the East Lombardy area, a glass of Franciacorta DOCG and S. Pellegrino mineral water.

The gourmet programme, right up until next summer, will see the participation of the chefs Sergio Carboni from the Locanda degli Artisti in Cappella de’ Picenardi (CR) in May, Romano Tamani from L’Ambasciata in Quistello (MN) in June, and in July Petronilla Frosio, chef and host at the Petronilla hotel in the heart of 19th century Bergamo, a venue which has won various awards.

2017 is the year in which East Lombardy is the European Region of Gastronomy and Milan Bergamo Airport is the main access point to Lombardy for foreign tourists, who in this way have the opportunity to better discover the territory and its excellences from the world of food and drink, even in the airport.
