MINORS
-
A minor, for fare purposes (not necessarily the legal definition of “minor”), refers to children under 12 years of age.
-
From 12 years old, fare-wise, the child is considered an adult and pays the full or discounted fare according to the airline’s rules.
CHILDREN UNDER 14 YEARS OLD:
-
Traveling with one or both parents: Requires passport/identity card.
-
Traveling without one or both parents:
-
For international flights, an identity card valid for travel abroad is required. The card must have “VALID FOR TRAVEL ABROAD” and the names of the parents, in case only one parent is traveling with the child (for safety reasons, e.g., kidnapping prevention).
-
If the child is traveling with other guardians (e.g., grandparents, coaches, etc.), in addition to the above, a delegation from the parents signed at the police station in the presence of both parents must be presented in original on the day of departure.
-
CHILDREN 14 YEARS AND OLDER:
-
From the age of 14, children can travel alone if they have:
-
A valid identity document (identity card valid for travel abroad or passport depending on the destination)
-
Any visa required by the destination country (usually for study purposes)
-
-
According to Italian law, they can travel abroad without a parental accompaniment delegation signed at the police station.
WARNING: Advise passengers to check the airline-specific rules as these may differ from Italian regulations.
WARNING: Ryanair does not transport unaccompanied minors under 16 years of age. Passengers under 16 must always be accompanied by a passenger over 16. No escorts or special services are available.
UNACCOMPANIED MINORS
-
Refers to children under 12 years old, who can, for a fee, use the onboard escort service (hostess) exclusively for the duration of the flight.
-
For international flights, a delegation signed at the police station by the parents is required, which is always needed until the child turns 14 (for Italian children).
-
Advise passengers to check airline-specific rules as additional delegations or documents may be required.
