Bike Room
To further enhance the experience of cycling travellers, Milan Bergamo Airport offers a dedicated Bike Room, a secure and fully equipped space designed for passengers travelling with their own bicycles.
The Bike Room provides everything needed for basic bicycle maintenance and preparation before or after a journey, including tyre pumps and essential tools. It serves as a convenient support point for cyclists choosing sustainable mobility and wishing to explore the Bergamo area by bike.
Arriving at the airport
After landing, simply exit the arrivals area and follow the signs leading to the Bike Room.
Departing from the airport
The Bike Room can also be accessed directly from outside the terminal by heading towards Gate 1. The facility is located nearby.
This service complements NextBG, the premium e-bike rental service available at Milan Bergamo Airport, further strengthening the airport’s commitment to sustainable mobility and its recognition as Italy’s first bike-friendly airport.
Bike Friendly Company
In September 2021, SACBO S.p.A. obtained the CFE – Cycle Friendly Employer certification, a European recognition awarded to companies that are considered "bicycle-friendly."
Thanks to its ongoing commitment to promoting sustainable mobility, on December 12, 2024, SACBO achieved the GOLD level—an upgrade that confirms its role as a national and international benchmark in encouraging the use of bicycles.
The CFE certification is based on a framework developed by the European Cyclists’ Federation (ECF), and in Italy, the audit and verification process is managed by FIAB – Federazione Italiana Ambiente e Bicicletta.
Certification is granted following the evaluation of over 50 criteria, divided into various thematic categories, which companies are expected to maintain over time and ideally improve continuously.
SACBO was the first Italian company and the first airport operator in Europe to receive this recognition, demonstrating a concrete commitment to creating a work environment that supports bicycle use and promotes sustainable mobility practices.
The increased use of bicycles for commuting and work-related activities contributes not only to the physical and mental well-being of employees but also to the reduction of motor vehicle emissions, fully aligned with the goals of the UN's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Airport Bike Friendly
Milan Bergamo Airport was the first airport in Europe to obtain the Cycle Friendly Employer certification on December 15, 2021.
This important recognition was renewed on December 12, 2024, with the GOLD level, highlighting the great work carried out by SACBO S.p.A. in promoting increasingly sustainable mobility, in line with the goals of the 2030 Agenda.
The certification rewards the commitment to creating the conditions for the entire community surrounding the airport to use and promote cycling—not only airport workers, but also travelers, both Italian and international, who increasingly seek infrastructure and services that allow them to move in an integrated way, combining different sustainable modes of transport.
To meet these needs, Milan Bergamo Airport has set up a dedicated route inside the terminal for passengers traveling with their own bicycle, and has built a bike room equipped with everything needed for assembly and maintenance.
From the terminal, it is also possible to access the cycling route that runs along the entire airport perimeter and connects the airport to the city of Bergamo and to the main national and international cycling routes. Among these are the Bergamo-Brescia Cycle Route, inaugurated for the Italian Capital of Culture 2023, the Musica nel Vento Cycle Route, the AIDA Cycle Route, and the Sun Route (Ciclovia del Sole).
The CFE (Cycle Friendly Employer) certification officially recognizes companies that have created a cycle-friendly environment. It is a European protocol promoted by the European Cyclists’ Federation (ECF) and, in Italy, managed by FIAB – Federazione Italiana Ambiente e Bicicletta.
The evaluation is based on an audit that considers over 50 criteria divided into six categories, resulting in a final score.
SACBO had already obtained this certification in September 2021, becoming the first Italian company and the first airport operator in Europe to reach this milestone.
With the renewal in December 2024 and the upgrade to GOLD level, Milan Bergamo Airport confirms its position as a national and international benchmark for welcoming cycle tourists and for the development of environmentally friendly mobility.
Bike Future Challenge
SACBO, the management company of Milan Bergamo Airport (BGY) and the first European airport certified “Bike Friendly”, invites upper secondary schools in Bergamo and its province to participate in the Bike Future Challenge.
The project raises students’ awareness of sustainable mobility, cycle tourism, and slow tourism, actively engaging them in a creative challenge for a more sustainable future.
Schools joining by November 28, 2025, will take part in an educational program to develop ideas with a positive impact on the community and will have the opportunity to:
- develop cross-disciplinary skills; propose innovative solutions for sustainable mobility;
- participate in real-life experiences related to work and active citizenship;
- meet experts and startups in the field.
Schools can design projects, join a guided airport tour, and take part in the final event with workshops and project presentations.
