THE EXHIBITION “THE EMOTIONS OF THE GAMES” AT MILAN BERGAMO AIRPORT

From December 10, 2025, to January 12, 2026, Milan Bergamo Airport is hosting the photographic exhibition “EMOZIONI DEI GIOCHI – CULTURE THROUGH SPORT” in the area in front of Gate A1 in the Schengen departures terminal. The exhibition is part of the project “Itineraries in Lombardy for the ‘Cultural Olympics’”, promoted by Regione Lombardia – Directorate for Culture and organized by FICTS – Fédération Internationale Cinéma Télévision Sportifs within the Cultural Olympiad of the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, in collaboration with SACBO.

With this initiative, Milan Bergamo Airport embraces the spirit of the upcoming Winter Olympics and Paralympics, which from February to March will bring hundreds of athletes and their teams, along with thousands of enthusiasts of snow and ice sports, to Lombardy and nearby Trentino.

The photographic exhibition offers a journey through images, emotions, and legendary achievements: the installation pays tribute to Olympic and Paralympic champions from Lombardy and Bergamo, central figures in stories of talent and determination, as well as a visual celebration of the Winter Olympic Games, where the beauty of sport becomes a lived experience.

The project, aligned with the “Three-Year Culture Program 2023–2025” and part of the Cultural Olympiad program of Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026, aims to promote the Olympic territories and the legacy of the Games, guiding Lombardy’s citizens and local institutions through a path of engagement in the run-up to the Olympics, with an integrated approach across various sectors: sport, culture, tourism, and education.

The opening ceremony featured the participation of Giovanni Sanga, President of SACBO; Franco Ascani, President of FICTS and Member of the “Culture and Olympic Heritage” Commission of the International Olympic Committee; Marco Riva, President of CONI Lombardia; and Marcella Messina, Bergamo’s Councillor for Sport.

They were joined by a delegation of highly decorated athletes:

  • Martina Caironi (3 gold and 4 silver medals across four editions of the Summer Paralympic Games)

  • Oney Tapia (1 gold, 1 silver, and 2 bronze medals in Paralympic athletics at the Tokyo and Paris Games)

  • Ivan Pelizzoli (goalkeeper for the Italian national football team, bronze medalist at the Athens 2004 Olympics)

  • Mirko Testa (1 silver and 1 bronze in para-cycling at the Paris 2024 Paralympics)

  • Marino Vigna (gold medal in team pursuit track cycling at the Rome 1960 Olympic Games)

  • Claudia Cretti (4 gold medals at the 2025 Para-cycling Track World Championships)

  • Michela Moioli (reigning world champion in snowboard cross and gold medalist at the 2018 Winter Olympics) sent a video message.

The Olympics and Paralympics are not confined to competitive moments—they represent a heritage of stories and culture,” stated Giovanni Sanga, President of SACBO. “This exhibition presents photographic images, snapshots of the feats that marked the sporting careers of our great champions. Passengers at our airport will be able to admire a selection of photos from the Winter and Paralympic Games, as well as from the Summer Olympics and Paralympics. Our airport offers the best welcome, and we are confident that our newly inaugurated departures terminal—designed with technological innovation and comfort in mind—will also be appreciated. The year 2026 is just around the corner, and we are preparing to experience the great five-ring event, ready to play our part in it.

Sport is a global movement in the service of humanity,” emphasized Franco Ascani, President of FICTS. “And Olympism is a lifestyle through which we seek to promote, especially among younger generations, the values embedded in the symbol of the five rings—a symbol that celebrates the indissoluble bond between sport and culture.
