THE WATER SALUTE FROM THE ORIO FIRE BRIGADE WELCOMES THE ARRIVAL OF THE TUIFLY FLIGHT

The Orio al Serio fire brigade welcomed the arrival of the inaugural TUIFly flight, operated by Gowair with an Airbus 320, for the new additional twice-weekly flight to Casablanca. Landing at 6.55 p.m. on Saturday 8 June, the TUI Fly flight will also be operating on Tuesdays, arriving in Casablanca at 10.10 a.m. and departing again at 11.05 a.m. This flight strengthens the offers for the Milan Bergamo-Casablanca route that was opened ten years ago by Air Arabia and guarantees daily connections.

THE MINISTER FOR INFRASTRUCTURE AND TRANSPORT DANILO TONINELLI VISITS THE SACBO EXECUTIVE OFFICES

Today saw a visit from the Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Danilo Toninelli to the executive offices of SCABO, the company managing Milan Bergamo Airport, where he was welcomed by the Managing Director Emilio Bellingardi who, together with the executive staff of the company, illustrated the new airport development plan and the programmes for infrastructural work both under way and scheduled aimed at bringing the airport in line with the needs of passenger movement.

Minister Toninelli in a later meeting with the press confirmed that the project to create a rail link between Bergamo station and the airport in Orio al Serio, for a length of 4.5 km, will be financed within the framework of the decree to promote construction works and completed within the time frame forecast by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana - the Italian Railway Network company - with the nomination of a commissioner who will oversee the works.

THE OPENING TIMES FOR THE VISITBERGAMO INFOPOINT AT MILAN BERGAMO AIRPORT HAVE BEEN EXTENDED

Milan Bergamo Airport (BGY) is climbing ever higher and with it the Infopoint Gate operated by VisitBergamo in the international airport managed by SACBO.

In order to provide the best possible assistance to the ever-increasing number of tourists arriving at Bergamo airport during the evening, as of the first of June the opening hours for the Infopoint from Monday to Saturday will be extended by two hours, from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. (in comparison to the current closing time of 8 p.m.).

The opening hours for Sundays, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., will remain unchanged.

SACBO AND BIS OFFER 6 SCHOLARSHIPS FOR SUMMER STUDY IN IRELAND

The six students will spend four weeks, from 21 July to 16 August, in Dublin, Ireland, and will visit the Ryanair general headquarters.

The scholarships were assigned to Davide Bonafini and Veronica Marenzi, students from the Vittorio Emanuele II Commerce and Tourism Institute of Bergamo, Beatrice Damiani from the Opera Sant’Alessandro Scientific High School, Daniele Campese from the Falcone Linguistic High School, Eleonora Mauro from the Secco Suardo High School and Davide Gagliardi from the Maxwell Aeronautical Institute of Milan.

BAROLO FROM THE WESTERN REGION AT MILAN BERGAMO AIRPORT

On Friday 10 May, at the “Italy Loves Food” point in the Ilario Testa Food Court, Departures Terminal - Gate 11, from 11:30 to 15:30, a meeting was held with various producers and their wines from the western side of the DOCG production area of the ‘King’ of wines: Barolo.

There were six wineries present: Cantine Ascheri (offices in Bra and vineyards in the Barolo DOCG production area), Giuseppe Ellena (la Morra), Agostino Bosco (La Morra), Umberto Fracassi Ratti Mentone (Cherasco), Cascina Gavetta (Novello) and Le Strette (Novello). Each winery brought two vintages of the famous wine to try, and the tasting also included a Nascetta DOC, a Dolcetto d’Alba DOC and a Langhe DOC.
