MILAN BERGAMO AIRPORT CELEBRATES ITS 13 MILLIONTH PASSENGER OF 2019

Milan Bergamo Airport has celebrated its first-ever 13 millionth passenger of the year. A new record in the growing trend in passenger movement, which over the course of 2019 has seen an increase of 6.5% compared to last year.
The 13 millionth passenger of 2019 was Annabella Cremonte, a yoga teacher resident in Voghera, who was departing on the 11:10 a.m. Alitalia flight AZ 2153 to Rome Fiumicino, where she was due to continue to her final destination of New Delhi.

All of the passengers departing on 6 December received a gift of a cap with the Milan Bergamo Airport logo and the words “13 million passengers”, accompanied by a card thanking them for having chosen to fly from Bergamo airport, thus contributing to reaching this historical milestone.

L'AEROPORTO DI MILANO BERGAMO PRONTO A DOTARSI DI LETTI DI ARRESTO

SACBO ha pubblicato il bando di gara europeo per la fornitura e posa di un letto di arresto, da realizzare in corrispondenza della testata ovest della pista di volo dell’Aeroporto di Milano Bergamo, comprendente la relativa manutenzione quinquennale.
L’idea di impiegare la tecnologia dei letti di arresto all’Aeroporto di Milano Bergamo è stata avanzata da SACBO in appendice ai lavori di rifacimento della pista di volo eseguiti nel 2014, con la predisposizione delle aree di sicurezza alle estremità delle due testate.
A seguito della condivisione del programma da parte di ENAC, che ha pubblicato le linee guida relative alla installazione di letti di arresto, SACBO ha avviato la procedura che dovrà portare all’assegnazione dei lavori previsti nella seconda metà di settembre 2020 e consegna e collaudo nel mese di ottobre 2020.
Dal momento della installazione, l’aeroporto di Milano Bergamo sarà il primo scalo nazionale a disporre di tale sistema, il terzo tra gli scali con oltre 10 milioni di passeggeri in Europa dopo Zurigo e Madrid.

LAURETAN JUBILEE, THE PILGRIM STATUE OF THE HOLY HOUSE OF LORETO WILL BE PRESENT IN THE MILAN BERGAMO AIRPORT CHAPEL

On the occasion of the one hundredth anniversary of the designation of the Virgin Mary of Loreto as patron saint of aviation, the Holy Father Pope Frances has granted the Lauretan Jubilee to all air travellers. The Jubilee will begin on 8 December 2019 with the ceremony to celebrate the opening of the Holy Door of the Sanctuary of the Holy House of Loreto, presided over by the Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin, and will end on 10 December 2020.
During the Jubilee year, the programme for which was presented today in a press conference held in the Vatican, Plenary Indulgence will not only be for the faithful who pass
through the Holy Door of the Sanctuary of the Holy House of Loreto, but, in accordance with the methods that will be issued by the Vatican and the respective dioceses, also for those visiting the chapels of the civil airports where a statue of the Virgin Mary of Loreto will be placed as part of a tour.
The Pontifical Delegation has chosen Milan Bergamo Airport as one of the locations destined to play host to the Virgin Mary of Loreto, from 2 to 23 June 2020.

THE “CHEF AT THE AIRPORT” COMPETITION AWARDS A BERGAMO-INSPIRED RECIPE

In the cooking show at the Vicook Bistrot in Milan Bergamo Airport, the conclusive event in the “Chef at the Airport” competition organised by SACBO in collaboration with the gourmet restaurant run by Da Vittorio and open to all passengers departing in 2019 from the airport, the final choice went to a recipe inspired by local produce used in Bergamasque cuisine.
Three finalists were chosen from those accepting the invitation to create a locally-inspired recipe (the Bergamo-born Paola Cerimbelli, Alberto Mattei from Piedmont, and Maria Teresa Ruta, a famous TV presenter). They prepared their dish in the presence of the three-star Michelin chef Enrico Cerea, receiving unanimous praise for their efforts and the quality of the results, presented to a jury of culinary journalists, the chefs and the clients in the restaurant, whose vote was determining for the final result.
The winning recipe was that of Paola Cerimbelli, who proposed “Atlantic salted cod with Bergamo chanterelle mushrooms”, followed by the “Sicilian Risotto” by Maria Teresa Ruta and the “Casoncelli with a soft Taragna polenta and fig filling on a bed of porcini mushrooms”.
The chosen recipe will be included for a whole year in the menu at the Vicook Bistrot, considered to be one of the best airport restaurants in the world.

THE FINAL EVENT IN THE “CHEF AT THE AIRPORT” COMPETITION

Milan Bergamo Airport is getting ready for the cooking show that will be the final event in the “Chef at the airport” competition organised by SACBO and open to all the passengers who have departed in 2019 from the airport, inviting them to create a locally inspired recipe.
On Monday 25 November at 8 p.m. the Vicook Bistrot, the gourmet restaurant run by Da Vittorio, will be playing host to the three finalists (Paola Cerimbelli, Alberto Mattei and Maria Teresa Ruta), who will prepare their selected recipe in the presence of the Michelin three-star chef Enrico Cerea.
The winner’s recipe will be included for one year in the menu at the Vicook Bistrot, considered to be one of the best airport restaurants in the world.
As well as the chef Enrico Cerea and a panel of food journalists, the finalists’ dishes will also be judged by the clients in the restaurant, who will be able to book a table and take part in the event.
