LAST BAE 146-100 FLIGHT AT MILAN BERGAMO

Milan Bergamo Airport has celebrated the last flight of the BAe-146-100 aircraft, which is owned by F1 Management and used for travel by the organising staff of the Formula One Grand Prix held in Europe. The aircraft, which is distinguished by the initials G-OFOM and was the last one in service out of the 33 produced by British Aerospace, began operations on 27 February 1990 and is retiring after more than 32 years in service. Flight FO 1463B, bound for London Biggin Hill airport, took off at 12:45 with 20 passengers on board. As it departed, the aircraft was sent off by a water arch from the Orio al Serio Fire Department. The BAe 146 100 series, a regional airliner also known as the “Jumbolino”, equipped with 3171 kg thrust Honeywell ALF 502R-5 turbofan engines that guarantee a range of just over 2,000 km, has some special features, such as an openable airbrake located in the tail cone, in the absence of devices for reversing the thrust of the engines. Since 2019, this aircraft has been stopping off at Milan Bergamo airport during the Italian F1 Grand Prix in Monza, using the sister handling service of Signature Flight Support Italy and BGY International Services of the SACBO group.

SACBO GROUP CONFIRMS ITS 3rd LEVEL AIRPORT CARBON ACCREDITATION

After a timely verification of the requirements, ACI Europe has confirmed again for 2022 the SACBO Group’s third-level certification (so-called "Optimization") of the Airport Carbon Accreditation. In addition to certifying the continuous reduction of the carbon footprint produced by aeronautical activities and services carried out in the airport, this third-level certification is a testimony of considerable importance in terms of the commitment and actions developed to achieve the reduction objective for CO2 emissions. Also involved in the emission reduction plan are third parties and the stakeholders of the SACBO Group, through actions and initiatives which aimed at their participation and at raising awareness and sharing the objective underlying the plan. The increase to the third level of the Airport Carbon Accreditation was obtained in 2020, when the SACBO Group continued its commitment to environmental sustainability while operating during the health emergency caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

FROM BGY THE FIRST DIRECT LINK TO THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES

MILAN BERGAMO AIRPORT, A EUROPEAN EXCELLENCE IN TERMS OF QUALITY OF SERVICES

Milan Bergamo Airport continues to excel in terms of quality according to the survey carried out by ACI World, the international airport association. The indexes regarding appreciation of services and operational efficiency for the second quarter of 2022 show Milan Bergamo Airport in first place in Europe for the 5-15- million-passenger category, and the fourth overall in Europe behind Moscow Domodedovo (more than 20 million passengers), Skopje (up to 1 million), and Rome Fiumicino (more than 40 million). Milan Bergamo Airport tops the rankings in Europe for accessibility and range of food outlets. According to the opinions of European business passengers, Milan Bergamo Airport is in second place behind Moscow Domodedovo. It is fifth in Europe for availability of information, and sixth for quality of assistance and courtesy, as well as for ease in reaching the gates. Passengers expressed particular appreciation for the comfort offered by the new boarding areas at Milan Bergamo Airport, which holds first place both on a national and European level for the 5-15-million-passenger category. Appreciation was also expressed for the courtesy of the staff in the commercial establishments in the terminal.

RYANAIR CELEBRATES 12 MONTHS OF BOEING “GAMECHANGER” IN MILAN BERGAMO

Ryanair, Europe’s & Italy’s No.1 airline, today (20th July) is delighted to mark 12 months of the Boeing 737-8200 “Gamechanger” in Milan Bergamo, reaffirming its strong commitment to environmental sustainability and leading the sustainable aviation agenda in European aviation. This latest generation aircraft has saved Ryanair over 6,000 tonnes of fuel with a total CO2 savings of c. 20,000 tonnes from Bergamo in the past year. Ryanair’s 20 Bergamo based aircraft, 10 of which will be our most enviro efficient “Gamechanger” aircraft (4% more seats, burn 16% less fuel and create 40% less noise emissions), represent an investment of over $2bn, delivering over 100 routes including 9 new Summer routes, supporting 600 highly paid aviation jobs and over 9,5k indirect jobs at Bergamo Airport. Ryanair expect to transport 12.2m passengers to/from Bergamo for the fiscal year 2023 (1.6m more than pre pandemic period) to give Bergamo’s holiday makers an abundance of choice to top European destinations whilst also giving Lombardy’s tourism a much-needed boost after two challenging years.
